The actual me.

Darrell Nelson

I'm Darrell — I live in Los Angeles and I've been building things on the internet since before most people knew what the internet was.

This isn't my professional site. That's over at darrellnelson.org if that's what you're looking for. This is just… me. The stuff I think about. The stuff I do when I'm not working. The things I care about that don't belong on a resume.

I have opinions. I don't always share them diplomatically. I'm working on it. (Not really.)

What I'm into.

🎢
Thrill Seeker

Disneyland, Universal, Six Flags — if it has a rollercoaster, I'm already in line. The bigger the drop, the better. Adrenaline isn't a hobby, it's a lifestyle.

🎵
Music

I spent a couple years in the music industry — it changed how I hear everything. Deep into a lot of genres. Probably listening to something right now.

Food & Coffee

Particular about both. LA is a great city for this. I have thoughts about pour-overs, and I will share them whether you asked or not.

🔍
The Web

I've been doing SEO and web stuff long enough to remember when it was simpler. Vague on purpose — the professional version is at the other site.

🏃
Running

Not a runner yet, but I'm getting there. Early mornings, clearing my head, strong opinions about shoes I haven't earned yet. It's a work in progress — like most things.

✈️
Travel

Cairo, random road trips, wherever the mood takes me. I like going places where I don't know anyone and eating whatever the locals eat.

📸
Photography

Moments, places, and things worth documenting. I don't overthink it — if something catches my eye, I shoot it. There's a whole page for it.

🗳️
Politics

I almost ran for Congress. I didn't, but the opinions never stopped. I have a lot of thoughts about how things work — and how they don't.

I'm Never Leaving Los Angeles.

People talk about LA like it's a problem to be solved. Traffic, rent, wildfires, influencers — I've heard it all. I'm still here. I'll always be here.

I Can't Stop Starting Things.

I run a telecom company, a tech firm, a nonprofit, a publishing imprint, and a few other things I've probably forgotten. I'm not bragging — I might need an intervention.

I Still Build Websites by Hand.

Everyone's using templates, AI builders, and drag-and-drop tools. I'm writing HTML at midnight like it's 2003. And I'm not stopping.

Turns out I'm also a student.

I'm studying at Southern New Hampshire University. I don't talk about it much — but the receipts are public, so here they are.

🏆
President's List × 2

Fall 2025 & Spring 2026. SNHU's top academic honor — awarded to students who maintain the highest GPA for the term. Verified by the university.

📋
Honor Roll × 3

Three consecutive terms: Sep–Oct 2025, Oct–Dec 2025, and Jan–Mar 2026. Not a fluke. Apparently I just kept going.

Full record is public. meritpages.com/est7bd — verified achievements, official university announcements, all of it.

I'm starting a podcast.

It's called Bad Reception. Politics, culture, music, tech, and life — unfiltered. The name's a nod to my telecom career: bad reception means a weak signal, but it also means receiving ideas differently.

Guests, conversations, and the stuff I'd normally say off the record. Coming soon.

I have a political blog.

It's called Epitome of Hatred. No filter. No apologies. No pretending any of this is normal.

If you're here for the roller coasters and coffee opinions, maybe skip it. If you want to know what I actually think about what's happening to this country — that's where I say it.

Say hey.

I'm not hard to find. I'm @est7bd pretty much everywhere. DMs are open. I read everything, even if I don't always reply.

Best way to reach me is probably X/Twitter or Instagram. If it's about work, head to darrellnelson.org instead — that's the professional side.
